Just found you!
We're owners of Fly who came to us from Eden animal rescue 2kg underweight having been very badly treated - what a wee smasher she is now though! She is our third border collie in a row and we are now looking to adopt a pup to add to the family around end July - anyone having a litter ready to go around then? We shall pass on all our info. to anyone interested. Loving home and LOADS of exercise, obedience and plenty fun and games from a family where Dad has just taken early retirement - lucky thing! - and tramps the hills and countryside for miles everyday with his loyal pal; two kids - one girl aged 11 and horse-mad as well as dog daft (but NOT getting a pony!!) and one boy aged 14 who has the most amazing bond with Fly - perhaps because he has Asperger's Syndrome (high functioning Autism) and Fly knows he has a kindred soul; they are inseparable.
Any advice anyone?

Hello all

I have read the comments about no news being published. I tottally agree with Dora that if no-one supplies us with news, we have nothing to publish. As the new editor of the newsletter I would like to ask all members: send me news for the newsletter, which we then also can use on the site. Results from shows (agility, obedience, breedshows, any other events, all is welcome), articles, etc.

Congratulations Caroline on winning Novice Agility at SKC what an achievement!!! I am sure the next one shall not be long.
I too, have something to be proud about and that is my dog Todd gained a first today in the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme and shall go the the Semi Final at the Working & Pastoral Breeds of Scotland and the Edinburgh Exhibition Centre in Ingliston on the 5th November,2006. I know he will do well but hopefully I wont let him down. Anyway, I am sure a lot of members who compete in obedience are thinking well thats the beginner stakes but for a dog which has had 6 homes prior to arriving at my door and attempting to defend himself from everything, and who has entered two obedience shows I think that is grand. It just shows you what a little bit of tlc and patience can achieve. I am so proud of him today, well actually I am proud of him all of the time and although he doesnt allow many people to touch him he has come on leaps and bounds and has learned that a dogs life is Fun!!!

Hi fellow SBCC members. News does seem a little thin on the ground at the moment, as a past newsletter editor I appreciate how difficult it is to find enough info to put a news letter together. It is possible however to find members results from the various web sites around and there are often items in the Breed, Obedience, Agility Council / Health Working Party minutes that members may find of some interest or in the various Kennel Club correspondences. As I say I know from experience that it is not easy. Perhaps if more members became involved in providing info it would be easier and we would all feel a little more informed and involved in the club.
I have a little personal brag. My girl, Sheltysham Speck, handled by my other half Chris, won Novice Agility at SKC on the 26th August. She has had a number of second places recently but until now that first place remained illusive. Chris and I now hope she gains another win before too long which would put her into Seniors. Agility is my main interest but I also enjoy hearing about who is doing what in the show ring although it is sometime since I entered a dog myself. I am often tempted to have a go again but the shows invariably clash with agility shows. Not long till the Champ show, are schedlues available yet?

Dora!! you are my HERO!!

First time ever, I've seen someone from the SBCC
taking the leaf from the mouth, - that is apart from masel ...

I got that ridiculous Kaka and her bletherings removed when she had inserted about 20-24 bits of nonsense some months ago.

What about getting down to serious business: I know some serious people in the Club who - along with me - think about our race.

Could we not concentrate on THE DOG and let others rejoice in the wonderfull companionship we share with THE SCOTTISH BORDER COLLIE.

As it is just now I feel that this Guestbook is a bin of rubbish (with a very few exemptions - sorry judges!)

If we are getting no more Newsletters from the Club, this GB appear to our last resort to be able to communicate.

SO COMMUNICATE MY DEAR MEMBERS - remember we are some - over the Wa'er - who thirst for News from the Country o' ou' chil'rin!

Yours Aye,

Henrik Mortensen

As a long-distance member of the SBCC I need to regularly check the guest-book to obtain news also information appertaining to Club Activities, although latter seem far gone and not kept up-to-date for a very long time and I wonder whether it is a lack of interest in matters regarding Club activities.

I thought the Club WEB master ought check the Web-site now and again.

When you see the last ten-odd entries you would think that the Web master is still hibernating!!

Wake up from your winter sleep,- spring is round the corner, get a broom and clean the guestbook to a reasonable status.

It is a little silly to use space for crank-pots!

I just completed a letter to Dora Mann this Friday evening at eight and would run over the club web-site and was shocked at the appaling news of the demise of Janet Hastie.

I have known Janet since the early spring of 96, met her here in Denmark, and later in Scotland and always been impressed with her kindness, openess and ever-ready store of good advice to border collie owners. I have learned most about our race from Janet with a few sound words thrown in by John.

My profound sympathy goes to John and family

Hi everyone I had to comment on the message left by Henrik I thought his comment was a bit harsh as the site has not been up and running long and you need to give people a chance I agree the multi colour text isn't what I would have done I actually like the other part with the green on the red tartan but the saying is different strokes for different folks. I did think more people would have put a note in the guestbook good luck with the site.

Hello there,

From your long-distance Danish member, vintage -96 - best regards to all in the Scottish Border Collie Club.

Great to note that you have entered the age of computer contact and trust it will be of great value to you all.

However, why the "Circus" text - it would have been much neater if you had chosen one colour - for heaven's sake - you are not on Blackpool Pier!!

Also the background - I ask you!! - it seems as if you have had someone from the Scottish Tourist Board doing an advertising in the old Bulletin(!)

Why have you not chosen to be modest as our dogs and given them a background of the old "Shepherd"s tartan? - so much nicer, so much neater, so much more cultural.
